TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Five people are dead after what Tucson police originally believed may have been a murder-suicide on the south side.

TPD chief Roberto Villaseñor said it is too early in the investigation to know exactly what happened.

Villaseñor said the people were found in different rooms of a house in the 800 block of West Calle Medina near I-19 and Valencia Road.

The chief said all suffered gunshot wounds. Police are working to identify the victims, but said they are both males and females of as-yet undetermined ages. Police said there do not appear to be any children among the victims.

Villaseñor also spoke of how his officers will conduct the investigation, saying, "The way they are going to approach this is very methodical. They'll go in and do a walkthrough of the residence just to get an overall picture of what they have and then they'll grid off the house and do it section by section to make sure they're recovering anything evidentiary of value. Obviously photographing and videoing the house to determine where everything is later on when they have to reconstruct."

Police got the call just before 6 p.m. Police officials say a man walked into the home, discovered the crime scene, and called 911 immediately.

Police do not yet know the relationships among the victims.
